Home Board of Directors PTSA Involvement Sports

The KR PTSA is pleased to announce that Lindsey Halversen, Leeann Allen, and Todd Lane are the three scholarship award winners for the 2007-2008 year.  Each of these seniors will receive a $500.00 scholarship awarded by PTSA to further their studies at the college or university of their choice.  The scholarship committee chose these students based on their academic record, volunteer service to community and school, and their financial need.  Congratulations and best wishes for a successful college career!

We are pleased to announce the nominated 2008-2009 KR PTSA slate of officers.  The slate will be voted on at our upcoming general meeting on April 3. We will also be approving our 2008 Standing Rules, so it is important that we have a quorum present to vote.

Congratulations to our 2008 Award Winners
Kentridge PTSA is pleased to announce that the following awards were presented at the March board meeting.  For each of these awards, a donation was made to the Washington State PTA Financial Grant Program.  From these contributions, WSPTA is able to provide grants to freshmen students entering post-secondary education. Congratulations to all of our deserving award winners!  The Kentridge community is grateful for your continued hard work, dedication, and vision that have helped create a great learning environment here at Kentridge.

David Baldock

Outstanding Educator

Carl and Allyson Johnson

Golden Acorn

Ed and MaryAnn Lindgren
Outstanding Advocate

The Outstanding Educator Award was created to recognize individuals who have provided outstanding educational opportunities for children and youth that are beyond the normal scope of their jobs to make the learning environment fun, beneficial, and challenging.

Dave Baldock is our band teacher here at Kentridge. He is admired, respected, and appreciated by his peers, administrators, parents, and most importantly, his students.  His easy going style complements his strong leadership skills, his tremendous talent as a musician, and his uncanny ability to relate so authentically with his students.  He encourages students to work at their highest level.  He supports the serious minded music student with the AP Music Theory class and continually seeks and finds unique opportunities for recordings, competitions, and festival participation for all of his students.

The Golden Acorn Award is offered by the Washington State PTA in recognition of a volunteer(s) for his/her dedication and service to children and youth.  It recognizes volunteer service “above and beyond” a particular job description.

Allyson is an outstanding volunteer, not only at Kentridge, but also at the other schools her children attend.  Allyson has served this year as the PTSA Co-President, but she has also held almost every position on the board at one time or another.  She works easily with staff, parents, and students and supports and encourages others at all times.  She is an effective leader that has given much time and talent toward the betterment of our Kentridge community.

Carl is married to Allyson and supports her work in every way imaginable.  He is behind the scenes at almost every PTSA function.  He willingly gives of his time and resources to assure success of the PTSA programs.  He transports and sets up equipment, tables, signs, etc. and often gives technical support with spreadsheets, programs, reports, etc. that are used in our various programs.

The Outstanding Advocate Award, established in 2004 by the Washington State PTA, recognizes and honors individuals for their dedicated service and advocacy work on behalf of children and youth.

Mary Ann and Ed have served the KR community for years, most recently as the trusted and valuable assistants to Jennifer Grajewski and the drama program.  These two do a little bit of everything and do it all very well!  Countless hours are donated to set building, costume and prop procurement and preparation, lobby design, ticket sales, publicity, and overall management of the theater volunteer team.  They have both served as chaperones on choir trips for the past four years and Mary Ann’s training as a registered nurse has proven to be an invaluable asset when medical needs presented themselves.
